The 2022 report showcases work with non-profit partners in the outdoor community, sustainability achievements and progress in DEI-related initiatives. Highlights of the report include: Launch of Find Your Good non-profit fundraising platformRaised more than $165,000 for nonprofit partnersNeutralized 20% of carbon emissions and will reach 100% carbon neutral by 2026Reduced intensity of carbon footprint by 4.14%Appointed first Head of Sustainability, signifying the company’s commitment to its environmental and social impactDiverted 4,478 outdoor items from landfills through Gear Up Give Back and Soles4Souls programsJoined Green Business Bureau and achieved Platinum status for Colorado headquarters. “As a leader in the outdoor industry, we are dedicated to sustainability and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives,” said Kristin Hostetter, Outside’s Head of Sustainability. “We recognize this is just the beginning of our journey and that it will require ongoing discovery and never-ending hard work. We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken so far to operationalize our values, but we present this first annual report in the spirit of humility, hoping it will inspire us to learn, act, and evolve.” In 2023, Outside is looking to further its initiatives in sustainability by working closely with vendors and partners to bring more renewable energy into its supply chain, create a supplier Code of Conduct to ensure that partners share Outside’s sustainability values and goals, and work on energy consumption at the local level by working with office facilities managers.
